Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

PackHunt is a community-driven mobile application that helps users locate trading card stock across UK retailers. The app is operated by Swiftbit Labs Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at support@packhunt.app.

2. What data we collect

  • Account information — email address, chosen username, and account creation date when you sign up.
  • Location data — your device's location, accessed while you are actively using the app, to show nearby stores and to verify you are physically present when you report stock or check in. We verify your position on our server and then discard the precise coordinates — we do not keep a record of your exact location.
  • Recent store visits — when you are near a store, we may record which store you visited and when (for example, "Smyths Ipswich, 12 minutes ago") so you can report stock for a store you have recently left. These visit records are short-lived: they are automatically deleted within roughly an hour, and the underlying coordinates are never stored.
  • Usage data — votes you cast, pins you create or save, check-ins, and your reputation score. These are stored to power the community feed and trust system.
  • Device information — platform (iOS/Android) and app version, collected automatically by our crash reporting provider (Sentry) and Expo services to improve app stability and performance.
  • Communication preferences — whether you have chosen to receive PackHunt update emails, and a record of when and where you made that choice (for example, at sign-up or from a prompt in the app). We keep this record so we can demonstrate that any marketing email we send was consented to.

3. How we use your data

  • To provide the core features of the app — the map, stock reports, and activity feed.
  • To calculate your reputation score and tier based on your reporting history.
  • To send push notifications about stock activity near you, and to remind you to report stock when you are near a store (only if you opt in).
  • To let you report stock for a store you have recently visited.
  • To send you account and service emails — confirming your address, resetting your password, and notifying you of important changes to the service. These are necessary to run your account and are not marketing.
  • To send you occasional PackHunt update emails about new features, community milestones and events — only if you have specifically opted in. See section 4.
  • To detect and prevent abuse of the reporting system.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Stock information within PackHunt is community-driven and may not always reflect real-time retail availability.

4. Emails and marketing

We send two different kinds of email, and they are governed differently.

Account and service emails — address confirmation, password resets, and notices about significant changes to the service or this policy. These are necessary to provide your account, so we send them to all registered users and they cannot be switched off while your account is open.

PackHunt update emails — occasional messages about major new features, community milestones, events and other PackHunt news. We send these only to people who have explicitly opted in. Consent is never a condition of creating an account or of using any feature: the sign-up checkbox is unticked by default, the in-app prompt can be declined, and declining changes nothing about how the app works for you.

Withdrawing consent. You can turn PackHunt update emails off at any time in the app under Settings → Emails, or by using the unsubscribe link in any such email. Withdrawal takes effect on our systems immediately and is as easy as opting in was. It does not affect account and service emails, and it does not affect the lawfulness of anything we sent before you withdrew.

We do not sell, rent or share your email address with third parties for their own marketing, and we do not send marketing on behalf of anyone else.

5. Data storage and processors

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (database and authentication), hosted on AWS infrastructure in the EU. Payments and subscription management are handled by RevenueCat. We use Google Maps Platform to provide the in-app map — please refer to Google's own privacy policy for how map usage data is handled. Account and service emails are delivered by Resend; PackHunt update emails, where you have opted in, are delivered by SMTP2GO. Each processes your email address only to deliver those messages on our behalf, and neither uses it for their own purposes. We may change email delivery providers from time to time, and will update this policy if we do.

6. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information (email, username) is removed within 30 days, including your communication preferences and consent records. Records of stores you have recently visited are automatically deleted within approximately one hour. Anonymised voting data (without user attribution) may be retained to maintain the integrity of the community map.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, and to object to or withdraw consent for direct marketing at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@packhunt.app. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Children

PackHunt is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by email. Continued use of PackHunt after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
